Mel found yoga through her study and practice of martial arts and psychology. She is attentive to alignment and helps her students to build strength and challenge themselves in a safe environment. Mel understands that each and every student is unique. She strives to meet each of her students where they are on their own personal journey. Mel teaches about the breath and connection between movement and breath to guide students to a state of calm and mental stillness while cultivating the fierceness of their inner warrior. Mel’s intention is to help her students engage in self-study (svadyaya) and develop a confident loving kindness to realize their authentic self on and off their mats. She graduated from Pure Warrior Yoga School in 2015 and is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge of the practice with her students.
Mel lives in Albany with her husband, Jesse, and their dog, Rumble. Mel enjoys singing, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
Zoë’s yoga journey began in January of 2013, as part of a New Year’s resolution to get back to her body. She quickly replaced gym sessions with yoga classes as her practice deepened, along with her awareness that something more than exercise was happening in these classes. In late 2013, Zoë met Meg Allen, and her practice changed. Through breath and probing the possibilities of a yoga practice, Meg opened the door for Zoë to yoga as a way of life. To deepen her own practice and to learn how to share the gift of yoga with others, Zoë completed her 200-hour teacher training with Meg, in the first graduating class of the Pure Warrior Yoga School. Zoë is registered with Yoga Alliance and is excited to share her passion for the transformative power of yoga.
Zoë is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist and works full-time as a medical practice manager. She is also a part-time college student and a full-time single mom to a brilliant fifteen-year-old son, Oliver.
In 2005, Lisa began a weight loss journey and yoga was essential to her success. Her practice repeatedly reminded her to slow down…to be gentle, kind, and nurturing… not only to others, but to herself as well. It helped her learn to show love and compassion for her body even at 295 pounds. It also reinforced the importance of taking care of both her mental and physical health. Lisa hit her goal weight two and a half years later and obtained her group exercise certification shortly after. She hoped that teaching would help her stay on track as well as give her the opportunity to work with and motivate other people facing similar struggles. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2011 with Frog Lotus Yoga at the Centro Creativo Lalita in Acebo, Spain. It was an amazing experience that gave her the courage to get out of her box and make bold changes in her life. She is committed to connecting with others through yoga, serving, and sharing her love of the practice. She has taken many trainings and has taught chisel/body sculpting and zumba in addition to yoga. However, she finds yoga to be the most rewarding as it is so much more than just physical exercise. Yoga offers us opportunities to expand our views, reevaluate the way we think, be conscious in the choices we make and how we live our lives. It is an incredible tool for transformation. She hopes to share this in her classes.
Stephen’s yoga journey began in 2010 when he made a decision to practice yoga as a compliment to his active lifestyle. An avid tele mark skier, mountain biker and all around outdoor enthusiast he found Yoga a great way to build strength and increase his overall flexibility. Along the way as his practice progressed and he began to feel the internal transformation yoga had in his life he was inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. Inspired and encouraged by his teacher Jennilee Toner to enter her teacher training program in March 2014 he completed the Hot Warrior Yoga teacher training in June 2014.Stephen believes the mind, body, soul connection is a sacred one, and one that should be nurtured and inspired. With that mentality he teaches his classes from his heart creating a safe, alignment based uplifting environment for students to begin to explore and expand within their own body and consciousness linking breath to movement.
